Since 1979, the Lesbian Herstory Archives has collected personal papers and organizational records donated by lesbian individuals and groups. The more than 400 collections that comprise the Archives’ Special Collections help to document and preserve a diverse cross-section of lesbian history. Holdings range from a series of drafts of Audre Lorde’s Zami: A New Spelling of My Name to the personal belongings of an anonymous lesbian prostitute. Included on this website is a small sampling of the Lesbian Herstory Archives’ vast collection. Organized chronologically, the subject headings on the top of this page allow the viewer to explore the Special Collections in the order in which these collections were accessioned. An alphabetical list of the collections is also available here: Alphabetical Listing of the Special Collections
Please note: This website only includes the collections for which the archive has a donor form on file. If you are a donor of a Special Collection, we ask that you fill out this form and return it to us. Also, feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns by phone (718-768-DYKE) or by email (firstname.lastname@example.org). Thanks!
